Bruges is a well-preserved medieval city in Belgium. It is ancient, majestic and humble. It is also home to many impressive late-gothic buildings as well as churches, and some of the most precious art works can be found in Bruges. 




Day 1: Arrival in Bruges

Story of Sweetness

Choco-story is a museum that takes you deep into a sweetness that's appreciated by people of all ages and all backgrounds. Belgian chocolates are famous worldwide and that is not surprising. You can take a deeper look in the history of the delicious Belgian chocolate.

Climb the Belfort (UNESCO)

It is quite a climb up (366 steps), but you can occasionally pause on the way. For example, on the second floor where the treasury was. Furthermore you see on the way up an impressive clock mechanism, a clock and the 47 bells of the carillon. Finally, from the top of the UNESCO recognised building, you have a breathtaking view of Bruges and surroundings.


Take a walk around the Rozenhoedkaai in the evening and enjoy the beautiful canals with a spectaculair view in the dark. This is a must-see and its probably the most photographed spot in Bruges.





Day 2: Middle Ages & Renaissance

Basilica of the Holy Blood

The relic of the blood of Christ on a piece of fabric is preserved by the Basilica of the Holy Blood. On each Friday, the relic is displayed before and after the mass. A holy item of great significance to the locals of Bruges for years.

The Church of Our Lady

A church with a collection of valuable art works. The famous Michelangelo's Madonna and Child, the only work of the artist that was kept out of Italy, is housed and preserved by the Church of Our Lady.

De Halve Maan Brewery

Go on a brewery tour with De Halve Maan Brewery, a family owned Bruges' brewery with a tradition that goes back to 1856. After the tour, you will get a degustation of a typical Belgian beer, the Brugse Zot Blond.





Castle of the Counts

This important sight in Ghent is a castle with a very turbulent past, closely intertwined with the complex—often stormy—political and social history of the city.
